Located in Phra Nakhon District in Bangkok, this bustling market offers tons of flowers, a vast array of colors and a refreshing aroma.
There are flowers of every kind both locally-sourced and imported. Marigolds cannot be missed as they are a charm to the eyes. The majestic sunflowers, tulips, roses, lilies and orchids, to name just a few.

Flower garlands, Phuang Malai, are available too mostly at the entrance to the market. They are a common site in temples, at shrines and also hanging from taxi rear-view mirrors. Car drivers purchase them to please Mae Yanang, the goddess of journeys, for luck and protection.
The market teemed with all sort of activities. People walking around, enjoying the radiant blooms, florists busy making flower arrangements. While other vendors were loading deliveries on motorcycles.

I saw ladies’ faces beaming with happiness after receiving flowers from their partners. Then there were the solo explorers like myself, who don’t shy away from ordering those bouquets. Pictures were taken and selfies snapped all capturing the alluring flowers. Whatever the occassion you have in mind, be certain that you will find the perfect flowers here.

Besides selling flowers, the market also sells fruits and vegetables in wholesale. Though the open air market is the ideal place for the immersive experience, along the streets there are many flower stalls to purchase blossoms from.
I had never seen too many flowers like I did here. It was mind-boggling.

Pro tip to travellers: Don’t miss out on this experience when in Bangkok. Though deliveries happen in the wee hours of the morning, its best to visit in the evening when the temperatures are a bit cooler.
