In the heart of Yasothon town, there is an iconic building Phraya Khan Khak Museum. It is a giant toad that was built in 2015 as a learning center for children. It is famous for its shape and the only in the world of its kind. Located in Phaya Than Public Park, the museum overlooks Chi River.

Phraya Khan Khak museum has five floors. On the second floor, you learn about the different species of toads, their life cycle and how they are of benefit to the ecosystem.

On the third floor, they tell the story of Thao Khan Khak, the Toad Prince, who was born with skin resembling a frog. As he grew older, he made a wish to the King of Heaven, Phra Indra, who turned him into a handsome prince. He also gave him a castle and a beautiful wife. His father crowned him the King of the throne.
Everyone celebrated his new fortune which made the Rain God, Phraya Thaen, angry that they were no longer paying him much tribute. The Rain God ordered a drought onto the people. Rice crops in the fields failed to grow. Eventually, after thinking hard, Phraya Khan Khak won the battle. Phraya Thaen agreed to let it rain as usual.
On the fourth floor there are displays of mural art for the Isaan people. Taking the elevator to the topmost floor, mouth of the toad, you get to enjoy a nice view of the Lam Thuan Reservoir and the surroundings.

Across from the toad museum, is the Naga serpent, Phaya Naga Museum. It is a 3D museum where you get to learn how the Naga came to be.
